TPC Tampa Bay Recognized as an Environmental Leader
TPC Tampa Bay Golf Course superintendent Jason Kubel has been selected as a chapter award winner for outstanding environmental stewardship by the GCSAA and Golf Digest’s Environmental Leaders in Golf.
As a recognized Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Course, TPC Tampa Bay and Kubel are committed to environmental stewardship and this award serves as further proof of their excellent work. In the past year, Kubel and his team have focused their initiatives around pest management, water conservation and wildlife habitat preservation. These initiatives focus on improving and maintaining the programs previously put in place which have garnered this award three times over in 2005, 2006 and as a merit award winner in 2007.
Through these efforts Kubel has created an environmentally friendly and efficient golf course; and taking it a step further, he has integrated his plan for TPC Tampa Bay with its staff and patrons. Through an education outreach program, Kubel is able to provide golfers, guests and employees with the resources necessary to pursue a more environmentally friendly lifestyle and consequently have a larger positive impact for the surrounding community.
“We remain committed in our daily maintenance activities to practice our environmental stewardship efforts,” said Jason Kubel, “Not only for our Members and their guests, but for the entire community’s enjoyment of TPC Tampa Bay.” Kubel will be recognized for his achievement February 5th at the 2009 GCSAA Education Conference and Golf Industry Show in New Orleans, Louisiana.
TPC Tampa Bay features a masterfully designed Bobby Weed and Chi Chi Rodriguez 18-hole championship golf course routed around natural wetlands, cypress heads and numerous ponds and lagoons. The course has earned numerous accolades and is home to the Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am. TPC Tampa Bay is a member of both the Tournament Players Club Network and the Heritage Collection.
